The Rakes - Retreat

The Rakes broke up in 2009, after three albums. I was gutted, because I'd liked them since before their first album was released (Capture/Release). Blimmin' good songs, I always associate them with Maximo Park and Bloc Party because I got into them all at the same time. I hope they come back.. but I'm not keeping my hopes up. Retreat is my favourite song, it reminds me of studying for my leaving cert cos I had it on all the time (check out the live version, where Alan channels Ian Curtis). Other favourites are Work Work Work (Pub Club Sleep), We Danced Together, Little Superstitions,1989.
